WhatsApp for Android gets call waiting support with latest update
A week after the feature was introduced on WhatsApp for iOS, WhatsApp for Android is now getting call waiting support. WhatsApp call waiting allows users to receive voice calls while they are already on another call.
Call waiting on WhatsApp for Android
As part of WhatsApp for Android’s latest update, version 2.19.352, Android users have now received the new call waiting feature.
For those who do not know, the call waiting feature will allow users to be notified about any other incoming call while they are on an existing WhatsApp call. This feature will pop-up 2 options for users: 'Rejected' & 'End and Accept’, so that users can reject the call or terminate the current to accept the call.
Previously, if the user was on an existing call, a second incoming call was automatically rejected. The second call appeared as a missed call.
A few things to note about the new call waiting feature is that it appears more like a notification on the user’s screen that is a secondary incoming call in the background. Another point to note is that this feature does not come with the option of placing any call on hold, which is available for normal calling.
Additionally, the call waiting feature is applicable only for WhatsApp calls & will not notify users of normal incoming calls.
The new WhatsApp update has released a fix for the battery draining problem that was allegedly affecting various Android smartphones.
Additionally, the update has introduced new privacy settings for group chat and fingerprint unlock support.
The WhatsApp update has started rolling out and will eventually be available to all Android users.
